Build on the emerging understanding of literacy, mathematics, and community as young children learn through role-playing activities with 15 highly effective Literacy Play Centers.  Centers include: Grocery Store, Doctor's Office, Babershop/Hair Salon, Post Office, and Bank.  Develop social skills such as cooperation, negotiation, and sharing by using real and pretend props.  Detailed procedures, goals, and objectives are provided, as well as a list of children's literature appropriate to the theme.  These Literacy Play Centers can be highly effective and lay the foundation for the curriculum for an entire year in a pre-kindergarten or kindergarten classroom.  160 pages
